WINTER AND SPRING INTERNSHIPS
What: Winter or Spring Intern at the Cecil Whig
Where: Elkton, Md.
Details: The Cecil Whig is looking for an intern to work 10-12 hours a week writing stories, doing research and other reporting duties.

What: Winter or Spring intern at Spark Weekly Magazine
Where: Newark, Del.
Details: Reporters write, proof, edit etc., and we all input data and compile lists and post stories online on both sparkweekly.com and metromix. The internship is more like that of a magazine than of a daily newspaper.

SPRING INTERNSHIPS
What: Spring intern at The Philadelphia Inquirer
Where: Cherry Hill, NJ, Philly burbs or Center City
Details: The Inquirer typically takes one UD intern for spring semester, working 12-15 hours per week. You can request a particular desk, but there's no promise.
Requirements: The Inquirer requires that all applicants have at least 5-7 clips and preferably one daily newspaper internship before applying.
Contact: ELECTRONICALLY send resume, cover letter (addressed to Hai Do, Internship Coordinator) and three clips to Prof. Dawn Fallik at dfallik@udel.edu. I will forward the top candidates and then they will call for an interview.

What: Spring intern at the Delaware News Journal
Where: Wilmington, Del.
Details: The News Journal typically takes 3-4 interns per semester, working at various desks across the newsroom.
Requirements: You must have written for The Review or another publication before applying.
Contact: ELECTRONICALLY send resume, cover letter (addressed to Alison Kepner, assistant city editor) and three clips to Prof. Dawn Fallik at dfallik@udel.edu. I will forward the top candidates and then they will call for an interview.

SUMMER INTERNSHIPS:
Deadline: Nov. 15 to Prof. Fallik
Where: Allentown Morning Call
Location: Allentown, Pa.
Description: Intern at one of the best small papers on the East Coast. Located about an hour from Philadelphia, you'd be thrown out the door on a daily basis. I know some of the editors here, and you'd get good training and solid editing.

Where: St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Description: Paid intern on the P-D's metro desk, located in downtown St. Louis. Again, you'd be thrown out the door and get great experience. I can vouch for editor Adam Goodman who is a great wordsmith. You get paid enough to live there.
Application: Transcript, cover letter, resume and 6-8 clips to Prof. Fallik by Thanksgiving.

Description: There are a bunch of different internships here, including communication internships.

Students have until Nov. 2 to apply online for the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund's internship programs for 2010 in multimedia, news and sports copy editing and business reporting. You are required to upload a resume and a transcript.
