SPRING 2012 Internships: (Summer internship deadlines added)
We have a number of places looking for a spring intern. Many are looking for summer interns as well. So keep that in mind..
1. NPR
Location: New York, Chicago, Boston
Details: Various shows are looking for multimedia, human resources and programming help. Please check the website at http://www.npr.org/about/careers/internships.html for specific details about what internships are available where.
Deadline: November 15

2. Sierra Club
Details: The Sierra Club offers 10 different internships focusing on various issues. The internships are based in San Francisco and Washington D.C. Please check out http://www.sierraclub.org/careers/internships/dc/default.aspx to see which one interests you first.
How to Apply: Please email resume, cover letter, and a two to five page writing sample to Leslie.Bratton@sierraclub.org. Please indicate your specific interest and your availability dates.

3. Allentown Morning Call
Details: This paid summer internship places students on a variety of desks throughout the newsroom. Multimedia and copy editing internships also available. A previous internship is usually required, but strong clips from The Review would suffice. 4. The Cecil Whig
Minimum experience: One semester at The Review
Details: Interns write stories for a variety of desks, including breaking news, features and sports. Copy editing interns also encouraged.

5 . Delaware Today
Minimum Experience: Some writing for UDress or The Review etc.
Details: Students write briefs, fact-check articles and collect information for stories. At least one semester on the Review suggested.

6. Main Line Today
Location: West Chester, Pa.
Details: Recent UD alum Emily Riley is now an editor here. The last intern worked with her on a large consumer package as well as entertainment articles and local interest pieces.

7. The News Journal
Location: Wilmington
Details: Interns work for the city, sports, business, education or features desk. They write deadline stories, often landing on the front page. Editors prefer at least one semester on The Review with a strong number of clips. Students must have a car.

8. Baltimore City Paper
Location: Baltimore
Details: Interns write briefs, reviews and longer feature articles in an alternative newspaper format. It's a casual atmosphere with lots of opportunity.

9. UD Communications Department
Location: Newark
Details: Interns generally work 12 hours a week and get 3 credits for the semester. This is a PR internship writing assignments for news or feature stories that run on UDaily, and they often get a chance to also write something for the Messenger or Southern Delaware magazines or other UD publications.

10. Townsquaredelaware.com
Location: Online and Wilmington
Details: We're looking for interns to cover games, write features, etc. The interns would not be paid at first, but we're hopeful that will change. They will work with Kevin Noonan, a former sports reporter and columnist with the News Journal.

11. ADVANCE Newsmagazines/Merion Publications- Paid
Location: King of Prussia
Details: This magazine is looking for an intern to do feature reporting and writing for print and the web, as well as planning and assembling an e-newsletter and helping analyze their website. 12-15 hours a week, at $8-$9 an hour.
Minimum Experience: While we prefer to see articles that appeared in print or on a website, we will accept papers written for a class (be sure to explain what your assignment was).

12. Philadelphia City Paper
Location: Philadelphia
Details: This internship requires a familiarity with the Philadelphia area and an interest in contemporary arts and culture. Primary responsibilities include keeping up with weekly beats for our listings database and writing weekly entertainment-oriented pieces for our paper and A&E blog. Interns typically put in anywhere from 10 to 20 hours per week (scheduling is flexible).

13. The Philadelphia Inquirer
Location: Philadelphia
Details: Students work on various desks across the newsroom and in the suburbs. It's an intense internship involving a lot of breaking news and some features. Students are expected to pitch their own ideas eventually. A previous internship is suggested.
